GVB Amsterdam - Swietelsky
The MAX-N cable duct is designed with multiple hooks, allowing the cover to be securely fastened. The cover has a flange (overlap) that extends over the adjacent duct, which keeps out dirt and pests, accommodates expansion and contraction, and ensures air ventilation within the duct.
An important click-fit connection in the dovetail joint prevents the ducts from sliding apart, for example in the event of ground subsidence. As the duct is lightweight and easy to use, it is even used temporarily above ground to protect cables before the ducts are buried. At Swietelsky, they are keen to work with our duct. At this site in Amsterdam, near the GVB, the route has been laid out neatly and tidily.
What was particularly pleasing to see was that a long section of our older generation of cable ducts is still in use. These were still in excellent condition. In addition, the GVB uses hollow sleepers. Heatpoint has developed transition pieces specifically for this purpose, ensuring that pests have no chance of entering the cable route.
