ContactKijfhoek Fully Operational Again – Thanks to Teamwork and Technology
After a large-scale modernization, Kijfhoek — the largest marshalling yard in the Netherlands — is fully back in operation.
Commissioned by Dura Vermeer Railinfra B.V. we were proud to contribute to this major project by renewing the switch heating systems.
Thanks to this upgrade, the rail infrastructure remains reliable and safe even in winter conditions — a crucial link in the logistics network connecting the Port of Rotterdam to the rest of Europe.
Together with partners such as Siemens Mobility, ProRail, Dura Vermeer, and other stakeholders, Heatpoint proudly looks back on a project where technology, collaboration, and reliability came together.

Point heating keeps railway points free of snow and ice. Heatpoint uses different heating methods, depending on prevailing weather conditions and existing infrastructure. These include gas heating (infrared radiation), electric heating (resistance strip elements) and liquid heating (using a CH boiler or ground heat).

The MAX cable duct is a robust and highly durable duct which Heatpoint designed specifically for railways. These ducts protect vulnerable cables and pipes from vandalism and other forms of abuse or heavy loads.
