ContactSix weeks of intensive railway works at Hengelo station!
Proud that Heatpoint is making an important contribution to the renewal of the Hengelo rail yard, commissioned by ProRail and carried out by Dura Vermeer.
What’s happening?
From 9 August to 22 September 2025, Dura Vermeer will be carrying out large-scale works on behalf of ProRail, including the removal of nine switches and 1,200 metres of redundant track. At the same time, the overhead lines will be adjusted, new service and stabling tracks will be constructed, and additional space will be created for train maintenance and smoother traffic flow.
Sustainability plays a key role: switch heating systems are being converted from gas-fired to electric, ensuring a future-proof and more environmentally friendly rail infrastructure.
Heatpoint’s role:
Heatpoint supplies and installs the electric switch heating systems that contribute to reliability and safety, especially in winter conditions. With our expertise, we help ProRail make the transition from fossil fuels to sustainable solutions. We are convinced that this upgrade is not only good for the climate, but also for the reliability of train services. Something we can all be proud of.

Point heating keeps railway points free of snow and ice. Heatpoint uses different heating methods, depending on prevailing weather conditions and existing infrastructure. These include gas heating (infrared radiation), electric heating (resistance strip elements) and liquid heating (using a CH boiler or ground heat).

The MAX cable duct is a robust and highly durable duct which Heatpoint designed specifically for railways. These ducts protect vulnerable cables and pipes from vandalism and other forms of abuse or heavy loads.
